The eighth annual Northeast Regional Life Sciences Core Directors (NERLSCD) meeting was held November 6-8, 2013, in New York City, NY, hosted by the New York University Langone Medical Center.  

The NERLSCD meeting is an outstanding regional forum for core administrators, directors, managers and staff to network with colleagues, to learn about biotechnology advances and applications, and to discuss the challenges and results of implementing shared research resources.  The 2013 meeting had presentations and forums on administrative issues facing biotechnology core laboratories.  There were scientific presentations and breakout sessions on core technologies and operational challenges.  A core facility poster session  offered attendees an opportunity to present posters describing their core services and to learn about regional life sciences shared resources.  Pre-conference events included a centralized core administrators meeting, an electron microscopy satellite meeting, tours of the New York Genome Center, and tours of core facilities at NYU.  There was an opening reception and numerous opportunities to network with colleagues.

The NERLSCD 2013 meeting organizing committee includes Peter Lopez (NYU Langone Medical Center), Pamela Scott Adams (ABRF), Michelle Detwiler (ABRF), Stephen Bobin (Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth), George Grills (Cornell University), Timothy Hunter (University of Vermont), Christian Lytle (Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth), Susanna Perkins (University of Massachusetts Medical School), Katia Sol-Church (Center for Pediatric Research, NCC-Delaware), and Theodore Thannhauser (USDA-ARS).

Abstract submission deadline: October 15, 2013, extended to October 21, 2013
