I have known Dr. Michael Kilchenstein for more than twenty years and in that time have come to view him as one of the most talented psychiatrists and psychotherapists that I have ever known!  What is distinctive about his work is the quiet, unassuming wisdom that he brings to his relationship with each patient.  And along with wisdom he consistently brings great respect for the people with whom he works.  He understands the courage it requires for a person to ask for help and to be open to allowing someone else into the most personal aspects of one’s life.

Dr. Kilchenstein has published highly regarded articles on his work in the leading international psychoanalytic journals.  There too, as in his personal relationships, his humility is always a felt presence.  He never instructs; he merely describes, and leaves it to the listener to do as he or she is inclined to do with what he has said.

If I were not a psychiatrist who has worked collegially with Michael Kilchenstein for two decades, he would be the person to whom I would refer a family member who needed help sorting out something big or small in their life.  That, for me, is the highest recommendation that I can give to any doctor.

I am most delighted to write on behlaf of Michael Kilchenstein, M.D. I have known Dr. Kilchenstein since we were psychiatry residents together at Hopkins 1965-1968. I have stayed in close touch with him ever since. I refer patients to him and have monitored their progress. In my experience, Dr. Kilchenstein is a superb psychiatrist who handles both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology responsibly. He is notable in his devotion to his patients' welfare.

I recommend him to you most highly.
