April 6, 2017

Greetings third grade families,

I hope everyone is well.  I am looking forward to the nice weather we are suppose to have next week, hopefully all the snow will melt.  We have been working hard on our book that will be published.  I have sent home the order forms and need them back by Monday, April 17th.  Even if you don’t intend on ordering a book, if all order forms are returned we will get a free class book.  So please return the order forms with a yes or no.  Thank you!

We have finished our Character Studies unit in reading and will be starting Research Clubs, which will be exciting.  In writing, we are working on rewriting fairy tales.  We have read different versions of fairy tales and listed the characteristics of fairy tales, and are now in the process of writing our own version.  Be sure to ask your child what fairy tale he/she is doing.

In mathematics, we are reviewing rounding to the nearest ten and hundred with addition and subtraction.  Whenever possible if they can do reflex math at home it really helps with their fluency.

Just a few reminders, your child should be reading daily.  Razkids is always an option for reading, they can also get great books at the library here or at the Salisbury Free public library.  They should be filling out their reading calendar daily, both sides please!   I can’t stress enough the importance of reading regularly.  I still need report card envelopes from a few of you.  Please let me know if you have any questions about them or anything else.

Have a great weekend!
