December 4,, 2017

To the third grade families,

I would like to thank you all for your contributions for to the Holiday Gift Baskets.  Once again they were huge hit and and all proceeds come back to SES.  In the past we have used this money to help fund the playground, to pay for the yearbooks, and to buy new legos.

It’s hard to believe it is December!  The holidays are here and quickly approaching.  We will have our holiday party on Friday, December 22nd at 2pm.  We can have some snacks and a small gift exchange.  If any of you are interested in coming or adding some “spice” to the party let me know.  The gift exchange is usually something small, $5 and under, just label it so we know if it is for a boy, girl or either.

Report cards will be coming home this Friday.  As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns after you have reviewed them.  We have had a wonderful first trimester.  I truly enjoy all of the kids.  They are sweet, kind, and caring.  I am lucky to come to work everyday and spend time with your children.

Next week we will be starting a new math unit on area.  Area is length X width.  If any of you have tiles or squares on your floors at home this is something you can talk to them about at home.  We will continue with spelling packets and reading logs for homework.  Please let me know if you so desire for more homework.  Several students have completed their first “green card”.  They get a whole punch for any extra homework they do.  Twenty hole punches completes a card and then they get to pick from the prize bucket!  The best part is they are learning and challenging themselves.

Happy December!

Ms. Linda Kimball
