November 5

Did you enjoy your extra hour of sleep last night?  Haha, I know that kindergarten students don't really get the concept, so if they are like my kindergartener at home, we were up at the regular time and then exhausted by bedtime!  It's been pretty quiet here in the classroom this morning so far.
This week we will have two special events happening: Trash on the Lawn Day tomorrow and the Turkey Trot on Friday.  Trash on the Lawn Day is meant to raise awareness of waste and recycling at school, and learn what more students can do to help with both. It will be rain on shine, so please have your child wear warm, not new clothes as they will be sorting trash.  Also, closed toe shoes are a must.  We have never done this at school before, so I'm very interested to see what it's all about.  Friday will be the Turkey Trot at 1:00.  Students are asked to bring in a non-perishable food donation to give to the Loudon Food Pantry.  They will be running/walking a 1/2 mile loop behind the school and soccer field.  It's a really fun event!  Please be sure your child wears warm clothes and comfortable shoes.
As we get into cooler weather, please remember to send your child in with appropriate clothing.  Hats, mittens, gloves and scarves are good ideas on days when the temperature drops.
This week we'll be learning about more reading superpowers, being word scientists, comparing numbers 0-10 and finishing up our weather unit.  Please remember there is no school next Monday due to Veteran's Day.
