This page contains a series of learning materials (with links at the bottom of this page) designed to help students learn to play the piano with a minimum of stress.
These learning materials do NOT constitute a piano course. They are intended to supplement any course of piano instruction that the teacher chooses to use. They were originally written for students who have learned to play the piano using our key diagrams and key maps, and who are ready to learn to read music from the grand staff. (kmaps.com) (We continue to use them as supplemental materials for that purpose.)
Keyboard Labels 1-PK-06 - Keyboard Locator Labels Instructional Units PG-03 - Piano Keyboard Master Chart PG-05 - About the Grand Staff Notes PG-10 - Flash Cards of the Notes of the Grand Staff PG-15 - Grand Staff Prep Exercises PG-20 - On-Staff Reading Exercises - Schmitt PG-24 - Traditional Rhythm Notation - Worksheets Instructional Collections PG-32, and 34 - Favorite Folk and Children's Songs PG-38 - Bible Songs for Kids PG-40 - Traditional Christmas Carols The instructional units are listed below in the order in which they are intended to be studied. The collections can be played in the same time frame as the instructional units - as the students become familiar with the notation. (The prefix "PG" stands for "Prep, Grand Staff Upgrade.") | Note: The Keyboard Labels (at the top of the list at the left) are colored labels that we use to help our beginning piano students learn where the notes are found on the keyboard. Each octave from C through B is given a different color. (The colors are the 7 colors of the rainbow.) These colors are NOT a part of the grand staff upgrade notation. But they do appear in the instructional units presented on this page. Unit PG-03 shows exactly where the labels go on the keyboard. If you use these instructional units, you are likely to find that you will also want to use the labels. |
