Welcome to my teacher web site.

My name is Señora Verrinder (de Ayora).  I am from Merced and graduated from Merced High School in 1994.  I took four years of French in high school, but signed up for Spanish 1 my first semester in college.  I loved it! I earned a BA in Spanish from Saint Mary's College in 1998.  During my junior year in college I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain.  After college I entered the MA/Ph.D. program at UC Santa Barbara and I worked as a lecturer at UCSB, teaching Spanish 1 and 2. I also backpacked through Mexico for 6 weeks the summer of 1999.  In 2000 I earned an MA in Spanish Literature from UCSB and moved to Spain.

I lived in Granada, Spain for nearly three years before moving back to Merced.  I taught at Buhach Colony High School from 2003-2015. I also coached water polo at Buhach for three years. I am really excited to be at El Capitan High School!

I have five children and I love being their mama.  I also love to swim, cycle and backpack.  Now that you know a little bit about me you will be able to better understand why I teach Spanish and the experiences that motivate me to teach about the geography and cultures of the spanish-speaking world.
