Author and illustrator Matt Tavares will visit Hoover on Wednesday, May 4th!  



Hoover Reading Month was a hit!  Congrats to everyone who participated by designing a bookmark, attending an after-school event, visiting the Barnes and Noble Fair or following the calendar for daily challenges!

The Scholastic Book Fair was a success!
We raised over $1800 in free books and materials for the library! Thanks a million to my amazing parent volunteers!!!

  



Thanks to everyone who attended Spooky Story Night!  We couldn't have done it without our amazing parent and teacher volunteers!

Author visit - February, 2016 - Stephan Pastis (grades 3-5)
-the author of the popular 'Timmy Failure' series will visit Hoover in February to record a telecast that will be viewed all over the state!

Author visit - May, 2016 - Matt Tavares (grades k-5)
-prominent author/illustrator Matt Tavares is coming all the way from Maine to discuss the creative process with Hoover students

Get involved:

The 'NBC' lunchtime club
-the Nerdy Book Club invites grades 4-5 to meet during lunch to read/discuss fun novels and (usually) watch the accompanying movie
- grade 4 focuses on the works of Roald Dahl - grade 5 reads a wide selection of literature


Battle of the Books
-students in grades 4-5 form teams of three to four students to compete in the Hoover Battle of the Books 
-between now and the springtime 'Battle', teams read as many of the 15 assigned books as possible
-books are (3-6th grade) nominees in the 2015 PA Young Readers Choice awards - find them here!
-the winning team from Hoover will go on to battle other teams in the district!
