The Shoestring Theatre Company is preparing its new play, starting with its rehearsals tonight. A large amount of people showed up to audition, including quite a few freshmen.
The play this fall, Understood Betsy, takes place in the 1910s in Vermont, and is based on a beloved novel by Dorthy Canfield Fisher (for more information, go to http://www.dcfaward.org/Biography/index.htm). It follows a young girl as she moves from the city to rural Vermont, and the adventures that ensue.
In the fashion of the fall 2008 play, Counting on Grace, this play was adapted by the Shoestring Company's director, Mrs. Bagley.
Another plus that came from Monday and Tuesday's auditions was that there were at least four male actors trying out. This was much more than the one or two male auditions expected.
Everyone in the company was excited for the new play, Understood Betsy.
