Speak Out Competition for Greely High School Students

posted Mar 6, 2015, 6:26 AM by Dawna Green   [ updated Mar 6, 2015, 6:27 AM ]

The Cumberland / North Yarmouth Lions Club is hosting a local Speak Out competition on March 23rd.  The goal is to provide high school students with an opportunity to think about important issues facing them & their community.  Speaker contestants will prepare a 5-minute speech on an important issue facing them, our community, the State, or the Nation. Upon completion, speakers will be asked one question each by two questioners.  Speeches are scored by three judges based on content, presentation, and adhering to time limits. The local winner will be sent to compete in the district Speak Out competition. This is a great opportunity for students to practice their public speaking, win cash prizes, and recognition.

Please see Mr. Curry or Mr. Livingston, GHS teachers, for details and visit  http://www.cnylions.org/speak-out-contest for contest rules.

As we head into the last days of February, enjoy your vacation and all the snow!  Don't forget to help shovel out those in need!  The good news is that we will be back in the main art room starting Monday, February 23, 2013.  We are looking forward to having our art classes back.  As always, please be on time to class according to your program schedules.  Art 1 students from both first and second semester are encouraged and welcome to join me in after school art enrichment most days after school from 2:15-3:00.
Reminder that make up for absences occurs after school in the art room for full credit from 2:15-3:00 most days.  Make up is timely, deliberate and focused.  Please plan make up in advance with the art teachers.
