Wellness Warriors walking in the Komen Race for the Cure
The Wellness Warriors participated in the Komen Race for the Cure on Sunday, September 18 in Bangor.
We remembered those who lost their battle and celebrated our survivors.

This is the place for staff, parents, and families to find out about what we are doing to promote Health & Wellness at school & in the community.

Ticks and Lyme Disease

Ticks carry dangerous diseases and are looking to feed.  Here is a good article about ticks in Maine from The Bangor Daily News.
 http://bangordailynews.com/2013/05/08/outdoors/mainers-share-methods-of-keeping-ticks-off/

I have also attached a great reference (below) with pictures for you to review.  The best thing to do if you are walking/hiking in the woods or tall grass is to wear light colored clothing, tuck pants into socks and inspect yourselves after you've been out.  In most cases a tick has to be attached for 36 hours before it transmits the Lyme's bacteria.
