Announcements

Dear Parents,

 Welcome to 3C!

*You will want to stop by this site often, as it will be the place to keep current on what is happening in our 3C classroom.

* “November... the time to be thankful for all the blessings in our lives.”

*Please check your child's Home Folder and Daily Planner to see what we focus on each day. This can help to guide a conversation with your child about his/her day!  When entire teams have their planners signed, it helps us to reach our goal and celebrate as a class!

*HOMEWORK has begun!! Please remember to always fill in and initial each time your child works on a skill. There are 4 nights of reading, 2 nights of spelling, and 2 nights of math practice expected each week. Sheets are due on Fridays!  Thank you for supporting your child's efforts at home.

UPCOMING NEWS:

* We are almost finished learning all of the strategies presented in Chapter 4 math to help us multiply factors correctly. Please have your child review these strategies at home using the sheet I sent home right before conferences. We will be having a test over Chapter 4 on Tuesday, December 4th. A study guide will come home with your child in their folder.

* 3C would like to welcome two newcomers to our classroom. Welcome Danica and Jackson!  It's wonderful to have you join our 3C family.

*Finley Smith will be our special person on November 26th. During the month of December we will have Jack Cunningham on Dec. 3rd, Jaxson Fitzsimmons on Dec. 10, and Kasia Framcom on Dec. 17. Upon returning in January we will have Kennedy Davis on Jan. 7th.

*In reading this week, we have been discussing how people make government work. We talked about the importance of voting because it lets our voices be heard. You might talk with your child about your views and how you deem a candidate's worthiness.

*There will be a 2 hour early dismissal on Wednesday, December 5th.

* We will have our holiday party on Friday, December 21 beginning at 1:30. Dismissal will be at 2:05 that day. All are welcome to join us.

*I have been asked to pass along the following information. Please consider helping their cause this holiday season.

The students of 5G have worked very hard to organize and launch our backpack drive, 5G Packs Joy.  As mentioned on the morning announcements, we are collecting items to fill backpacks for families in need throughout our Mahomet schools and community this holiday season.  We will be collecting items December 3rd-14th and hope to disperse the backpacks on Friday, December 21st.  In addition to the joy that this will bring to families throughout our community, this project will teach the fifth graders in 5G so much as well.

We would love to fill the entire school with the spirit of giving this holiday season and will be around to post flyers, distribute boxes, and collect donations, starting on Monday, December 3rd.  A list of recommended items is below and we'd love for you to consider sharing this project and list with your class and parents in your next newsletter.  We will also give a prize to the class that donates the most items within those two weeks.

Additionally, if you know of a student or family in need, please let me know and I'd be happy to supply them with a backpack, too.  My students will not know the names of the families that we donate to and all information will remain confidential.

Thank you so much for your support!

Sincerely,

Dana Martin & 5G
