In week 1 all the EC classes went to the tread lightly caravan. We learnt about rubbish and recycling. We enjoyed planting some seeds and were like real scientists looking at insects through a magnify glass.
We had lots of fun and learnt how to be tidy kiwis.

The children and adults came back tired but happy from all the working. It was a great day, thanks Meryl for driving the van.

Modelling Language Using TouchChat (& other communication tools)

posted Oct 29, 2015, 9:47 PM by Meryl Bowen

Teaching children to use their communication tools effectively is something we think about a lot. Modelling language using communication tools (such as the TouchChat communication app) is sometimes referred to as Aided Language Stimulation. The link here will take you to a post which explains the importance of us modelling language using children's communication systems so that they can learn to use them better.

Have a read when you get the chance and feel free to follow Jane Farrall's blog as she has some excellent information about communication and literacy for children who are learning to use communication tools (or AAC) to express themselves.
