Now that trimester one has come to an end, it is important that students note the areas they performed well and focus on the areas they would like to improve. Chaparral’s P.R.I.D.E. Guidelines for Success are a great starting point to help students be successful here at school as well as in life. Students that:

·    are Prepared bring supplies to school, complete their work, and are in their seat ready to learn when the bell rings.

·    are Respectful show kindness and courtesy with basic consideration for other people’s feelings.

·   are a person of Integrity follow their conscience rather than the crowd and do the right thing when faced with a difficult situation.

·   are Disciplined don’t let the pressures of school and friends make them do something they know is wrong and they show a controlled form of behavior or way of working.

·   are Enthusiastic exemplify school spirit.  They are someone other want to be with because you lift their energy.

We challenge all students to show they have Panther P.R.I.D.E. at all times and follow these guidelines of success. Throughout the year we are offering special P.R.I.D.E. events to reward students who demonstrate that they pave Panther PRIDE.

In December through homeroom, students will look at 10 things everyone can do to be successful in school and in life that require no talent. These 10 things are: to be on time, have work ethic, give effort, good body language, have energy, have a positive attitude, have passion, to be coachable, to do extra, and to be prepared. Students will be asked to reflect on what they are naturally good at and what areas they can improve on.  Then in January, we will show the presentation “Rude vs. Mean vs. Bullying” in order to help students understand the difference as well and how to respond in each situation. It also talks to students about choosing to be kind and standing up for others.  You can find these presentations on my website under the homeroom presentation tab.

We continue to encourage students to show their panther P.R.I.D.E. in all that they do here at Chaparral as well as in life so that they can become their best!
