We will learn the new material and take a quiz on it before beginning review for our final exam (Tuesday and Wednesday May 23 and 24). Following the exam, we will submit a final project summarizing much of what we've learned this year.

Quiz: Thursday, May 11
Final Exam: Tuesday & Wednesday, May 23 and 24
Final Project: mid-June (TBD)

Unité 5: En famille

posted Mar 10, 2017, 12:44 PM by Bibba Kahn

Beginning Monday, March 13, we will be learning how to talk about and describe family members. Grammar concepts include adjective agreement, possessive adjectives, and a review of AVOIR. Students will check their understanding on a vocabulary and grammar quiz before taking a Unit Test before April vacation. This will be our last test before our final exam, and so the format will mimic that of the exam so as to provide a sort of "run through."

  • Leçon A Quiz (vocabulary/possessive adjectives) : Friday, March 24
  • Reading Comprehension: Monday, April 3
  • Unit Test with Oral Q & A : Thursday, April 13

Unité 4: A l'école

posted Jan 17, 2017, 11:08 AM by Bibba Kahn

Beginning Tuesday, January 17, we will be studying vocabulary related to school: classroom objects, courses, etc. We will learn a couple of new verb conjugations, how to tell exact time, and how to describe where things are. A main theme of this unit is asking and answering questions, both written and à l'orale.
Thursday, February 2: Reading Comprehension quiz
Friday, February 10: Vocab Quiz (Leçons A + B)
Friday, February 24: Question and Answer Test (includes oral component)

Unité 3: "Au Café"

posted Nov 20, 2016, 11:59 AM by Bibba Kahn

Though we'll use some food vocabulary as a way to practice some reading comprehension skills, we will begin Unit 3 in earnest after the Thanksgiving holiday. In this unit, students will learn how to have a short conversation with and invite a friend to a restaurant, where s/he will be able to order and pay for a meal. Additionally, we will study regional French cuisine and make time to have a celebratory and instructional meal. The summative assessments for this unit are:
Cuisine Project: Thursday, December 22
Recorded Conversation: Monday, January 9
Unit Test: Thursday, January 12

Additionally, there will be two "checkpoints" on December 7 and December 20. These checkpoints will serve as a time for students to consolidate their learning and get feedback on how they are doing.
