Sprint Triathlon Training Camp

This training camp is designed to help people who are new to the sport prepare for a triathlon. Led by USA Triathlon certified coaches, this half day camp includes open water swim, bike, run, and transition clinics, as well as a simulated very mini triathlon. Participants get their questions answered, learn and practice triathlon related skills, and meet other people who are new to the sport.

Time: 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Typical Camp Agenda

  • 8:00AM-8:15AM: Registration/check-in/change into cycling gear

  • 8:15AM-8:30AM: Welcome/Introduction/Participant Interests/Camp Agenda

  • 8:30AM-9:15AM: Cycling tips, strategies, USAT rules (15 mins). Practice ride--include using too easy gear/too hard gear/pacing/shifting/slowing down/cornering (30 mins)

  • 9:15AM-9:45AM: Transition zone: setting up and practicing  T1 and T2

  • 9:45AM-10:30AM: Tips for running strong off the bike (20 mins), practice run (10 mins)

  • 10:00AM-10:30AM: Break (snacks provided) --Change into gear for mini triathlon/put on wetsuit

  • 10:30AM-11:15AM:  Open water swim clinic

  • 11:15-11:30: Set up for Mini Tri

  • 11:30PM-12:15 PM: Mini Tri  (approx. will depend on participants ¼ mi swim, 3 mi bike, 1 mi run)

  • 12:15 PM-12:30 PM: Q&A/Wrap up

Range from $60 for early registration to $90 for day of registration

Half Iron Triathlon Training Camp

This training camp is designed for people who are new to the half iron/70.3 race distance. The camp specifically for athletes preparing to race in the 2015 Patriot Half. 
This full day camp on Saturday, May 16, 2015 includes swim, bike and run clinics on the Patriot course as well as classroom instruction to help you ace your Patriot Half experience.

Topics covered include open water swimming techniques, cycling strategy, running form, nutrition, tapering, and mental strategies. To maximize the learning opportunity the coach to athlete ratio is 15 to 1 (if not better). Mark Walter, USAT Certified Race Director for the Patriot Half and owner of Sun Multisport Events, will be on hand to provide his insights on the race.

Inclement Weather Policy
Our triathlon training camps will be held in the rain, but may be cancelled, modified, or postponed for thunderstorms. A cancellation notice will be posted on the home page of as soon as an informed decision can be made. No make ups or refunds will be issued for cancelled events, but Vmps would try to reschedule the event, if feasible.

Refund Policy for Vmps Triathlon Training Camps

No refunds will be issued. Participants may transfer their registrations to a different Vmps service in the same calendar year. All transfer requests must be made at least seven (7) days prior to the date of the training camps for which the participant is registered.
