Happy Thursday Team!

It has been a rainy few days but  I am sure that has not put the damper on our training.

AND THE RESULTS ARE IN …..

David Lyons placed 3rd in the mixed relay division for Ironman 70.3 New Orleans

Jodie and John Boduch had a time of 1:05:46 for the 3rd place spot for Mixed Relay at Sheriff’s Sprint Pool Triathlon

Pat Lambert and Joan Clifford placed 1st for All Female Relay at the Sheriff’s Sprint Pool Triathlon with a time of 1:05:10

NEW TEAM UNIFORMS

The design is finalized and if we do say so ourselves …. It is wicked cool! (ok Elaine said very cool look …. But I could not help the wicked part … gotta love MA).

The color combination will be celeste green with a little bit of purple and pink.

We will be offering the following items based upon team member input.  Please remember that there is a minimum of 6 pieces. We are a little below that minimum for a number of the pieces that will be available in the online store this go around. So feel free to do your holiday shopping early for those special people in your life.   I know many people who would love some new items J  Nothing quite says 'I love you' like a pair of men's giro bib shorts, for example.

In future store openings, we can add more items to the online store if there is sufficient demand for those pieces.

The current selection of Items:

- Men's ZX1 Tri Top

- Men's ZX1 Tri Short

- Women's ZX1 Tri Top

- Women's ZX1 Tri short

- Men's Giro Bib

- Men's Giro Jersey

- Men's Tech Tee

- Women's Vneck Tech Tee

Sizing Info (In case you can't try the items on)

http://www.zocagear.com/size-chart

The Zoca rep says that from personal experience the Zoca apparel is truer to size than some of the European companies. He's 5'10, 150 lbs and a medium in his other preferred brand, Pearl Izumi. However in Zoca he typically downsizes to a Small. He's a small in DeSoto and almost a small in Louis Garneau.

Fund Raising Event for fellow Team member Erich Manser

Mark your calendars for next Monday night (may 7th), 7:30 pm for a fun Mini-Meet to benefit our friend and Paralympic athlete Erich Manser.  As you might have heard, Erich has qualified for the Paralympic Trials final to be held this June in Bismark, ND.  With a strong showing, he will make the swim team and participate in the Paralympics in London this summer.  Our fundraiser meet will benefit Erich by helping him cover the many expenses enroute to his goal.

Thanks and hope to see you at the Quest for the Gold meet next Monday at the Fitchburg Y!

If you want more information on this awesome fund raiser please email Erich at mailto:erich.manser@hp.com

Scheduled Group Workouts/Events

Find people to train with at a time and location that meet your needs by scheduling a workout in the team workout/event document.

Check out the current schedule to see what's in store so far for May.

Open Water Swims at Lake Chauncy will start at the end of this month.  Please know there are no life guards at this swim.  We encourage you to swim at these open water swims …. However, know that at times people get separated.  You can choose to swim closer to the shore or swim the 1 mile triangle.  You need to know your own swim abilities.

SPONSOR HIGHLIGHT – PR RUNNING in WESTBORO

PR Running is Metrowest's only specialty running store. We carry a wide variety of running shoes to fit every customer's need from the high school athlete to the avid marathoner.

PR Running is committed to the highest level of customer service. Each customer can expect a unique experience including a gait analysis. Our store has a treadmill where we will watch you run and help you determine the proper level of support for your biomechanics.

We will not pick your shoes for you, but we will help you decide which category of support you should be wearing for your running or walking routine. You will also have an opportunity to try out a variety of shoes on our treadmill. Nothing is more frustrating than buying a pair of shoe that feel great while standing in them, but feel awful within the first mile of your run.

Remember as a VMPS Triathlon Team Member you get 10% off your regularly priced merchandise.  Just mention us to the sales person!

You can find more about them  at their website …..  http://www.myprrun.com/

Update on Alex Buko

Alex Buko, got hurt this weekend. He tore his patella tendon and cracked his knee cap when he tripped while hurrying down wooden stairs in cycling shoes while on a training ride in NH. Alex is having knee surgery on Friday, May 4. His tendon is completely torn from his patella so it's going to be a long road back for Alex.

CAUTION – CONSTRUCTION

Sources tell us that there is some construction going on some of our favorites roads to bike or travel.

Rt 70 from Clinton (you know the Dam Hill) towards Boylston is having drain work and tree removal done.  So there are many areas of a 1-lane road.    This is still under construction …. The last time I drove the road there were 1 lane spots and bumpy areas.  Please be careful!
