Third Grade with Mrs. Schuchardt

Welcome to the new school year and THIRD GRADE at ROHWER Elementary! I wanted to let you know about some of the third grade routines.

Behavior: Students will have the opportunity to earn Class Dojo points for working hard, displaying our school and classroom expectations and being a good
friend. These points will then be used to “buy” items from our DOJO store every two weeks. The items for sale might be sitting in the teacher’s chair, having a lunch date with the teacher, homework coupons, and many other COOL things!

Birthdays: If your child would like to celebrate their birthday at school, they are welcome to bring treats. Please remember they need to be store bought, and have enough for all 24 of our class members! (We do have some allergies)

Book Orders: I will send home book orders once a month. Book orders are a great way to build your library at home! For every book you order, our class earns points towards free books! If you would like to order books, you can send a check and order form in an envelope or order online. I will send more details with the first order.

Assignment books: We will use assignment books to show you what we have done in class that day, as well as what the homework is for that night. Please sign this each night!

Homework: Your student will have homework everyday. It will consist of reading for a 10-30 minute time period (we will work up to 30 minutes) and completing a booklog. There will be a math sheet sent home Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursday that will go with the chapter we are studying. Students will also complete one spelling assignment each week. Homework will be sent home in their homework folder. This is also where you will find all-important papers that are being sent home. Students will have consequences for not completing homework. Each quarter students will get 1“OOPS”. So if it is forgotten 1 time through out the quarter there is no consequence, however, if homework is forgotten or not competed more than once during the quarterthey will have to give up their recess to complete it.

Weekly Newsletters: Every Friday I will send home a newsletter that updates you as to what is going on in the classroom. (Hopefully by email, let me know if you would prefer a paper copy)

Library Check-out : We will have library check out once a week on Students can check out books. Books can be checked out for 2 weeks. Please remind
you child to return their library books on their scheduled day if they want to check out new books. Our check-out day is Wednesday

Lunch: Our recess/lunch time is 11:55-12:30 everyday. If you would like to eat with your child, please call the office by 9:00 am to order your lunch choice.

MonSTAR of the week: Each week, we will have a student be our “MonSTAR of the Week!” I will choose a student who is working hard on following our classroom and school rules. Every student will have the opportunity to be “MonSTAR of the Week!”

If you have any questions or concerns please email me at:
cmschuchardt@mpsomaha.org
I look forward to working with you and your child this year!
Sincerely,
Charlene Schuchardt

Technology in the Classroom

We will be using several forms of technology in our classroom. Students all have email accounts that they will use both at school and at home. We will also be using Seesaw, a digital portfolio that will allow you to see all the amazing things your students are doing in the classroom. QR codes and directions to join will come home a few weeks after school starts!

Specials:

We are on a 3 day Rotation for specials on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (10:20-10:50). It will be in this order Olsen (PE), Carson (Music), Wessel (PE). Wednesdays (10:25-10:55) will always be L.A.U.N.C.H. Due to this three day rotation it might be easiest for your child to always have PE shoes with them.
