Snacks

Students may bring a snack to enjoy in the morning and/or afternoon. They must complete one individual work before having snack.

It must be a healthy snack…please refer to the school wellness plan for recommendations. Unhealthy snacks will be sent home.

Please avoid peanuts, peanut products, and snacks made in a peanut factory.  We have children in our vicinity with a very severe, life-threatening peanut allergy.  This is an airborne allergy.  Please double-check the labels and product information on your child’s snack before sending them to school.

Spelling Homework

Spelling homework will come home in your child's folder every Friday. Your child is responsible for 5 of the 8 activities listed. They must do Activity #1 which is the rule for their words. What this means is that they should write the rule in one color and the rest of the word in another color. For example, if the rule is short a words. The short a will be in one color, and the rest of the word will be in another color. Most times, they will have one or two words at the bottom of their list that do not fit the rule, but are words they need to know how to spell. These words can be written in one color since they don't follow the rule. The directions for each activity are on the back of their spelling sheet. Homework is DUE the next Thursday.  Their spelling test will be on Friday. It is important that you spend time with your child while they are doing their spelling homework, especially the first few weeks, so they get good habits and  understand the expectation. After that, they may do it on their own, but I ask that you check it before sending it back to school. This helps them be accountable. The sentence on their paper is one that they need to know how to spell for the test. Thanks for your support from home.
