12 MMS 8th grade students spent the morning of March 13th cleaning up trash along the Animas River Trail from 32nd street to Rotary Park. They collected a total of 5 bags full of cans and bottles to recycle, along with 7 bags of trash. Overall, the area was fairly clean considering the level of traffic along the river, however, there were definitely pockets of significant trash in certain areas.
Students had lunch in Buckley Park and then saw a screening of 'Precious Knowledge' courtesy of FLC education department and The Backspace Theater.
Students responded to preview questions about the importance of community service and completed a reflection about the experience, as well.
