8th Grade

Course Description
Physical education is required of all students. Students will participate in softball, line dance, aerobic and strength training, basketball, volleyball, badminton, swimming, fitness and fitness testing. Activities are coed. One of the main goals is to have fun while developing skills, gaining game knowledge, and achieving fitness. Students will need a gym suit, gum shoes, and deodorant. They will also need to bring a swimsuit for the days they swim. Written tests, skills tests, and subjective evaluation are used for grading with students encouraged to do extra credit papers/projects if they wish to improve their grade

Course Goals

1. The student will apply the concepts and principles of movement to the learning and development of physical skills.
2. The student will understand that physical education activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.
3. The student will demonstrate responsible personal and social behavior in physical-activity settings. (RESPECT)
4. The student will understand that physical activity can result in looking, feeling, and functioning better in their day to day activities.
5. The student will acquire information and work toward obtaining a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.

7th Grade



Course Description

One of the primary goals of seventh grade physical education is to have fun while developing skills and game knowledge. Physical education is required for all students. Students will participate in flag football, square dance, low organized games, badminton, swimming, volleyball and track and field. Activities are coed with students given a choice of which activity to take during specific units. Students will need a gym suit, gym shoes, white socks and deodorant. Students will also need to bring a swimsuit for the days that they are scheduled to swim. Written tests, skills tests, and subjective evaluation are used for grading. At times students may be asked to practice skills on their own time, study for written tests using study guides and if they so choose, write extra credit papers or produce extra projects.

Extra credit papers/projects are encouraged if students want to improve their grade.
