Bawdy Blue: A Burlesque Revue

Founded in 2010 by Poppy Raucous and a rag-tag group of performers from diverse backgrounds, “Bawdy Blue: A Burlesque Revue” was an experimental collaborative effort to explore cabaret-style theater. At its core was a shared goal to explore the intersections of sexuality, gender, and performance arts while creating a unique and engaging environment for the audience. Since its inception, the cast of Bawdy Blue has been known for their devil-may-care style, a mixture of classic, smoldering burlesque and startlingly sexy neo-burlesque – with a more than healthy dash of Vaudevillian antics from now veteran emcees, Rex Texas and Louisiana Slim.
An ever-evolving production, Bawdy Blue has earned their stripes in the Twin Cities’ thriving burlesque community. They are known for their welcoming and rowdy cast as well as their inclusiveness and desire to push the limits of both performer and audience. The production strives to achieve a balance of harmless fun and poignant social commentary, in addition to pursuing efforts to benefit the greater community. Bawdy Blue has donated time and talent to multiple cancer fundraisers and produces the annual fundraisers for SlutWalk Minneapolis.
Looking forward to their busiest year to date, Poppy Raucous and assistant director Mad M. Moxie along with the cast of Bawdy Blue are eager and honored to bring their unpredictable production to The F-Word Conference. They are grateful for the opportunity to have a voice in the dialogue of this important educational experience, and for the chance to at last bring “Something old, something new; Something Bawdy and something Blue” to the University of Minnesota Morris campus!
