Iowa State University is encouraging students to apply for the Roy J. Carver Scholarship.  There are twenty awards of $5200 each that will be awarded for the 2018-19 academic year.  The applicant must show evidence of significant social and economic obstacles to attending college full time, be a graduate of an Iowa high school or an Iowa resident for at least 5 years, be a junior in the fall of 2018, have a minimum GPA of 2.80, and demonstrate financial need based on FAFSA.  Apply online at www.carvertrust.org - click on Scholarships and On-line Application.  Application deadline is April 1, 2018.

The Andy Triplett Memorial/Balanced Man Scholarship is available to any male high school senior that plans on going to the University of Northern Iowa in the fall of 2018.  There are 10 scholarships available, one for $750, another for $250, as well as 8-$50 gift cards to the University Bookstore.  Applicants are not required to join the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity to receive any of the scholarships.  The application is available at http://unisigep.com/scholarships .  Deadline is April 6, 2018.  Go to website or contact Hugh Zehr at zehrh@uni.edu for more information.

William Penn University is announcing a new scholarship to Iowa high school seniors - the Iowa Pride Scholarship.  If eligible, the student will pay $5000 or less for tuition.  The graduate must be from an Iowa high school with a 3.0 GPA or higher, file FAFSA, and enroll at WPU for the fall after graduation.  Contact the Admissions Office to learn more about the Iowa Pride Scholarship.

William Penn University is now offering their Athletic Bands Scholarship.  Apply today for $10,000 that is awarded per student per year.  Requires commitment to WPU Marching Band and one of the ensembles:  Pep Band, Winder Percussion or Winter Guard.  Go to www.wmpenn.edu for more information.

The Iowa Financial Know-How Challenge: Senior Scholarship is open for registrations.  Enter for a chance to earn one of 30 college scholarships and to increase your understanding of college financing.  Interested seniors should go to www.iowastudentloan.org/seniorscholarshp to register and read the complete scholarships rules.  Once registered, you'll receive an email with instructions to complete two online tutorials.  All three steps should be completed by 4:00 p.m. pm February 16, 2018 to be considered for the scholarship.

The Hamilton Award
The Hamilton Award recognized young people for their academic, personal, service and entrepreneurial accomplishments.  35 students from across the nation are selected annually as winners of the Hamilton Award and subsequently enrolled in the five-year Alexander Hamilton Scholarships Empowerment Program.  All applicants should be college bound and committed to participating in the rigorous five-year curriculum, designed to provide a comprehensive network of support and practical guidance to Alexander Hamilton Scholars as they transition from high school to college and college to career.  Each year of the program also includes an all expenses paid leadership conference hosted in various cities.  For more information or to apply, please go to the website www.hamiltonscholars.org or contact Amelia Moore at program@hamiltonscholars.org .  Deadline is January 16, 2018.

ACT Student Champion Award

Distinguished Young Women in Iowa is part of a national scholarship program that promotes and rewards scholarship, leadership and talent in your women.  College scholarships are awarded at the state level and at the national level.  One representative will advance to the national program in Mobile, Alambama where they give away cash tuition scholarships.  Make new friends from around the state; participate in workshops on interviewing, public speaking and more.  You must be a senior in high school to participate.  Online application is due November 1, 2017 and you must attend an orientation session.  Go to www.distinguishedyw.org for information on the orientation sessions and further deadline dates.

The NFIB Young Entrepreneurship Awards are non-renewable scholarships created to recognize young people who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and initiative.  The scholarships are valued between $2000 and $15,000.  The NFIB Young Entrepreneur program was established to raise awareness among the nation's youth of the critical role that private enterprise and entrepreneurship play in the building of America.  The student must be a graduation high school senior entering their freshman year at an accredited (not for profit) two- or four-year university, college or vocational/technical institute.  Student must be running their own small business in order to be considered for an award.  For more information or to apply, go to www.nfib.com/foundations .  Deadline is December 18, 2017
