Welcome to English!

A major focus of both English 11 and AP English Language & Composition will be on Reading and Writing. As you are Juniors, you should be developing a habit of reading so that you are prepared to tackle the 200-500 page a week reading assignments that you'll get in college. It is my belief that everyone can be a reader--you just have to find the right books! That is one of the goals of this year in English--to help you find the reading material that matches your interests.

You will always have homework--there will ALWAYS be something to read. You should plan to spend at least 30 minutes a night reading, even if I haven't assigned official homework. You will also be doing plenty of writing, and some of that will be done at home.  Make sure that you keep up with both aspects of this class because it will be hard to pass if you fall behind in either area.
