I have now entered 30+ years of teaching. I am not sure where the time has gone, but here I am enjoying teaching children of former students. All but two of those 30+years have been at the Montevideo Middle School in grades 5 and 6.

I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Moorhead State University in Moorhead, MN many years ago. Then 11 years into my career, I received my Master's in Education Leadership from Southwest State University in Marshall, MN.

I have a passion for teaching students how to become better writers using the 6+1 Traits of Writing model. This approach gives students a wealth of "tools" to put in their "writer's toolbox" to help them revise and improve their beautiful ideas and make them publishable for the world to see!

I also love to see their reading ability improve throughout the year as we work closely together on those ever so essential reading skills. Helping students to build pictures in their minds to improve their comprehension and become a "reading detective" by searching out that textual evidence to support every answer are just some of the strategies used to help them grow in this area.

Teaching is an adventure every single day. I enjoy welcoming my students to Room 101 at the Montevideo Middle School and merely ask that they come with a positive attitude, a smile on their face, and an "I CAN DO IT" mindset! Together we will grow in our knowledge and be ready for what lies ahead of us!

"Around here, however, we don't look backward for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors, and doing new things... And curiosity keeps leading us down new paths."

Walt Disney

The more that you LEARN, the more PLACES YOU'LL GO!"
