Contribute to the Student Hunger Drive!

The Student Hunger Drive is officially underway!  Please support Moline High School and help your local community by contributing to the 30th annual Student Hunger Drive.  Moline High School students compete against area schools in their efforts to collect food for the River Bend Foodbank.  Last year, MHS collected over 23,000 pounds of canned and non-perishable food.  Students would like to exceed that number and are working hard to sponsor many events to earn both money and food items.  Some of the planned activities include:

A food collection competition between period two classes. Students are encouraged to bring cans to their second period class to help their class collect the most items and win a breakfast pizza party for their class.
The Empty Bowls Project in the MHS cafeteria on October 20th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Contributions can be made in the following ways:

Monetary donations may be sent to the MHS Interact Club, 3600 Avenue of the Cities, Moline, IL 61265
Canned and non-perishable food items can be dropped off during school hours. There are well-marked “Student Hunger Drive” cans available inside the high school front doors and also outside the main office  for food donations.

All donations need to be received by Tuesday, November 10th.  Thank you in advance for your generosity!

After School Tutoring Available

The After School Tutoring is available on early release Wednesdays from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. in computer lab B325.  Students seeking additional academic assistance can stop in and stay for as long as they need, whether it is 15 minutes or an hour and a half.  Students who need help with skills and/or homework are encouraged to stay on those Wednesdays to get some assistance.  After School tutoring is available on the following dates/early release Wednesdays.

Sports Unlimited Club Honored

On October 1st, State Representative Pat Verschoore presented the Moline High School “Sports Unlimited” Club with Illinois House Resolution No. 760, recognizing the club for its work with special needs students.  Now in its second year, the MHS “Sports Unlimited” is a club organized by students, for students. The club members plan non-competitive games and sports activities to promote student interaction and school involvement between general and special education students.  Students develop friendships and gain valuable life-lessons through the activities and through volunteering to help those in the club. Past activities include indoor tennis, volleyball, Zumba, an obstacle course, end of the year dance, and a float in the recent homecoming parade.  Congratulations to all involved!
