This year, we will study the ancient world in connection to the world today,

as well as imagine the world that we wish to see in the future!

Together as a class we will learn about early human migrations, early societies, the beginning of agriculture and the use of tools, and the creation of other structures that influence our world today.

BIG QUESTIONS:

  • How do we learn about the world and its history as scientists and historians?
How do use our knowledge of the past to envision the future?

  • What does it mean to be human in the ancient world and today?
How have humans related to each other and to the earth in history?
  • What is civilization?

  • How have humans organized themselves to meet their needs?

To pursue these questions, we will study ancient human societies in the following continents:

  • Africa
  • Western Asia
  • Europe
