The University of Akron is hosting several camps this summer for students interested in literacy. Read below.
'Join us this summer at The University of Akron for Camp Digi-Lit. Our camps are designed to cultivate a taste for exploration, develop your child's creativity, and stimulate a sense of excitement about new technology and literacy. Our camps offer creative ways to increase your child's ability and interest in reading and writing through technology while helping to prevent learning loss over the summer months.'

Fees: $300 per child

A) Action Novel Camp June 20-24 Grades 3-5
Pow! Zap! Bang! Do you like to write and illustrate your own stories? Spend a week using your imagination and exploring the world of graphic-action novels! Learn from professional writers and illustrators how to use computer-based software to help you write, edit, and publish your own graphic novel. Enhance your work with digital graphics, images, and daily hands-on activities as you learn more about this exciting medium. At the end of the week take home your own printed graphic novel to share with your family and friends.
B) Storybook Making Camp June 27- July 1 Grades 1-3
More than, 'once upon a time,' this camp explores the storybook making process from start to finish! Each day incorporate exciting brainstorming activities as you create ideas for your story. Learn storytelling fundamentals, strengthen writing skills, and use technology to bring your story to life. At the end of the week, take home your creation to share with your family and friends.
C) Screenwriting Camp June 27-July 1 Grades 5-7
Action! Screenwriting Camp is a great place to start developing your skills from both behind and in front of the camera. This camp provides the basics of screenwriting and allows you to use digital video camera and techniques to produce a short, unique movie. Explore the process from script to screen and progress through the editing process in a fun-filled small group setting. At the end of the camp, take home your own personal DVD featuring your work to share with your friends and family!
