Saturday Stories and Art: Peace

Join us in the Modesto Library auditorium for our series of free art programs for the family! Each "Saturday Stories and Art" program will feature a picture book and a related art project. Participants will use a variety of mediums and techniques to explore an art concept, creating their own pieces to take home. This Saturday's program will feature Todd Parr’s The Peace Book. Following the reading, all ages will create a peace mosaic using buttons and other materials. All ages welcome. STEAM* Challenge: Earthquake Shake Table

VA Mobile Medical Outreach

Modesto Architecture Festival’s Family Architecture Experience

The MoSt Summer Poetry Workshops - Blackout and Erasure Poetry with Stella Beratlis

Join Stella Beratlis, Modesto's poet laureate, as she leads a workshop on blackout and erasure poetry. In the workshop, attendees will look at examples of the form and see why blackout/erasure is often referred to as a "poetry of absence." Using existing texts, participants will explore ways to frame words and create new work. For examples of blackout poetry, see http://newspaperblackout.com/ or http://erasures.wavepoetry.com/. Newspaper will be provided as source material; however, participants are welcome to bring their own source texts if they wish.
