What is a primary source? It is a document or physical object that was written or created during the time under study. Examples include:
Original Documents: diaries, speeches, manuscripts, letters,
interviews,news footage, autobiographies, official records
Creative Works: poetry, drama, novels, music, art
Relics or Artifacts: pottery, furniture, clothing
What is a secondary source? These are items that analyze and/or interpret primary sources.
Examples include:
Textbooks
Magazine articles
Encyclopedias
Web sites
