10-12pm: Intermediate Technique class with Alicia Graf Mack,

Introduction to Horton Technique: its place in Modern Dance training, yesterday and today

Class Description: Lester Horton’s influence on modern dance and contemporary dance training is far-reaching. This class will introduce some of the foundational principles and focus on the strengthening and conditioning aspects of Horton Technique.

12-1pm: Lunch Break (Bring bag lunch or several purchase options on campus.)

1-3pm: Empowering our Students and Strengthening our Dance Community: Panel discussion and breakout sessions with teachers representing different approaches and levels of training

Dance teachers from studios, arts programs, competition programs, university departments, and directors of local dance companies come together to discuss their designs and intentions in the shaping of a dancer. The purpose of this sharing is to clarify goals, and find crossover, commonality and continuity while celebrating the complexity and diversity of our whole dance community.


$20 whole day/$10 one session for MDO members

$25 whole day/ $15 one session for non-MDO members

$10 whole day for full-time university students or high school students


Alicia Graf Mack
is a former lead dancer of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. She has also been a principal 
ballerina with Dance Theatre of Harlem and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. Alicia has danced as a guest performer with Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet, Beyonce, John Legend, Andre 3000 and most recently, Alicia Keys on the 2013 Set the World on Fire World Tour. In addition, she’s appeared at many galas and festivals including the Youth America Grand Prix and the International Stars of the 21st Century. Mrs. Mack graduated magna cum laude with honors in History from Columbia University and holds a MA in Nonprofit Management from Washington University in St. Louis.  After returning to St. Louis in 2014, she is now on faculty at Webster University and Washington University in St. Louis. 

Alicia Graf Mack is the Co-Founder of D(n)A Arts Collective, an initiative she created with her sister, Daisha, to empower young dancers (www.dnaartscollective.com).
