Teamwork: Cup Challenge

Teamwork is vital to learning these days. Brain research shows that talking out ideas, sharing ideas, and justifying thinking is essential to deep understanding. That's why we will be doing some teamwork activities all year. Our first one was the Cup Challenge. Groups were instructed to use the tool provided to build a series of sculptures. The tool? a rubber band with four strings attached. Students quickly figured out that they could each pull a string and use tension to open and close the rubber band. That way, they could manuever the the cups to the location they wanted. There was plenty of cups falling, but there was also a lot of laughter and fun. Check it out:
