Create a Nature Inspired Clay Relief Tile with the following...

Tiles will be 8 x 5 or 6 x 6.

1. 1/4-1/2 inch elevated border.
Roll and cut out a slab of clay using the templates. (If you want to have texture on the border of your tile, add the texture BEFORE cutting out the tile.
BE AWARE OF HOW MANY BOARDS ARE IN THE SLAB ROLLER- No more than 2 boards, so the slab isnt' too thin!
Using a needle tool, draw on the border. You can use the wooden sticks as guides
Using a ribbon tool (shown below), carefully carve the middle of your tile. Be careful NOT to cut all of the way through the tile.
The border should stick up around an 1/8 of an inch.

2. A background, middleground, and foreground. (3 Layers of clay)
Middleground and foreground pieces should be roughly 1/8 inch thick.
        Special Note-
Images from computer printouts can be used and traced onto the clay pieces.

3. Texture/pattern on at least 2 different areas.
        Special Note-
Make sure to add the texture to the clay BEFORE transferring and cutting out the images.
Make sure to properly slip, score, smush, and smooth out each piece!
After pieces have been attached, you may want to let your project become leather hard so it is easier to carve in details etc...
