Ceramics II

This quarter is all about practicing wheel throwing skills. You will each have ample time to work on the wheel since Ceramics I students will not be using it til after Christmas.

By the end of the quarter, you have ONE thing due for me from the wheel...

6 inch Cylinder (or Higher :) This is another helpful video!
        Graded on the following-
An even 1/4-1/8 inch thickness on the walls (sides)
Flat and smoothed out base- Bottom
Leveled and smoothed lip (the top)

I will help you center the clay at the beginning of the year, but want you guys to learn how to do it properly.
I have linked some helpful videos below.

Please have the right mindset when practicing on the wheel!  It took me a LONG time to get good at it. You have probably already realized that learning the wheel is quite challenging. Be UP for the challenge!

If at the end of the quarter you have learned how to use the wheel effectively, I won't require many more wheel projects.  I want you to be able to CHOOSE the method you make your projects (hand building vs. wheel), and not DEFAULT to only hand building because your wheel skills are less than par.
First Assignment
Wheel Throwing Videos- You are required to watch both part #1 and part #2 of the wheel throwing videos. You will also be filling out a worksheet (60pts) about the videos to help organize the information. You  may be able to watch them on my Chromebooks, but if Youtube is blocked that day, feel free to use your phone :)
