Greetings! I am Chantal Ulferts, the sixth grade English teacher. This is my second year teaching at Minnehaha, and I have enjoyed every minute of enriched blessings it has offered me. There is no greater gift for a teacher than experiencing life with a group of sixth graders! Their unique sense of humor coupled with an innate sense of creativity and sprinkled with enthusiasm makes for one amazing meal—which I get to partake of every day.
Before Minnehaha, I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Northwestern College where I was a member of the English Honor Society and acted in more than ten theatre productions. When the teaching bug bit me at my graduation, I traveled to South Korea where I spent a year teaching English to grades Pre-K through 8 at Daejeon’s Poly Returnee Institute. Being able to combine my love of English, teaching, and kids into one profession encouraged me to teach sixth grade at Central Minnesota Christian School in my hometown of Prinsburg, MN before arriving at MA. I am currently acquiring my Masters in Teaching at Bethel University.
When not in the classroom, I am usually poring over a good book while carefully balancing a chai latte in one hand and a bit of chocolate in the other. I also enjoy attending the theatre, watching old movies, chatting at length with my two younger sisters, and trying my hand at a writing project during the summer.
Come! Pull up a chair and join us in writing memoirs, delivering memorable speeches, creating poetry, thinking critically in a journal, researching problems to solve, publishing novels, and exploring the wide world around us. Everyone is welcome!
