I can hardly believe we are back at school again. This summer seemed to fly by. I kept busy with travel and summer nannying, but am so excited to be back at Minnehaha participating in my truest passion, teaching. It is amazing to me that this is my fourth year here. I am so blessed to be a part of this wonderful community. Each year coming back to school feels more and more like coming home. I continue to feel more comfortable in my roles here and accepted by all who are part of this school.
I have already mentioned that teaching is one of my greatest passions. Another would be Spanish. Here at MA I get to combine those two things that I love and share that joy with your students. In our lower school Spanish class, our goal is fun, energy, and creativity. I want to make language something exciting in your students lives and something they will choose to pursue in their further education. In class, we will do some reading, writing, and speaking in the target language but most of all we will experience - experience other cultures, experience other ways of living and and experience experimenting with this new language. My goal is to do it in as creative ways as possible. I am so excited to start this new school year with your children.
The start of a school year brings with it a lot of routine and goal setting. The first few times your student visits Spanish class are no exception. They will be introduced to me as their teacher and to the language we are exploring. We will talk about guidelines and expectations for behavior in Spanish class as well as around the school. I make sure that these first few weeks are used in such a way that we will be set up for the most successful school year we can have.
Rather than updating the Spanish class page on the website that can be tricky to find, I will email brief updates home throughout the year in efforts to keep you apprised on what we are doing in Spanish class. Feel free to stop by anytime or contact me with any questions you may have.
Dios te bendiga,
