Minnehaha Academy Guidance & Counseling PreK-8
The mission of the Minnehaha Academy Lower and Middle
School Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive, developmental
counseling program addressing the academic, future planning, and personal/social and
spiritual development of all students. Counseling services are delivered with
the belief that Christian faith is the foundation upon which all life
experiences are built. The Counseling Program provides support to assist
and develop the whole student, and is dedicated to promoting the overall well
being of the Minnehaha Academy community.
We believe that the school counseling program
is an integral and crucial component of the total educational program and
serves as a major link in achieving the mission and goals established at
Minnehaha Academy. The school guidance and counseling program is
comprehensive in scope, developmental in nature, and based on the national
standards for school counseling programs, integrated with a strong Christian
Faith. Counselors deliver the school-counseling program, both
individually and in collaboration with other professionals, through programs
and activities to all Minnehaha Academy
students in grades PreK-8.
The four areas included in the
school-counseling program are:
- Guidance Curriculum – classroom and group activities.
- Individual Student Planning – activities to assist the individual
student in establishing personal goals and developing future plans.
- Responsive Services – activities to meet student’s immediate needs.
- System Support – professional development, consultation,
collaboration and teaming, program management and operation.
