Dear Parents / Guardians,

Welcome to  Aftercare.

My name is Michelle Gauthier and I am the director of the aftercare program at the Elmwood Street School. I am happy to welcome you and your child to the aftercare program.  I have worked in Millbury since 1988 and I am currently a grade 2 teacher at Elmwood.  I have degrees in Early Childhood Education, Special Education and Leadership and I am so excited to work with your child (children) this year.

Listed below are a few important items that you should know about.

  • Since Shaw and Elmwood have independent supervisors, we are asking that you pay with separate checks if you have a child attending both buildings.
  • Until we get to know you, we will be asking to see an ID in order for your child to leave with you or someone who is authorized to pick up your child.  While I know that this is tedious, it is for your child’s safety.
  • We will continue to lock the doors at 3:15 p.m., so please report to the office to sign your child out before going to get them.
  • Please send your child (ren) to school with an extra snack for aftercare. We do not provide snacks for the students and the students are hungry after a long school day.
  • A designated homework time will begin this week.  All children will participate and it with run from 3:15 - 4:00. Students who do not have homework, will have a planned activity or go outside.
  • You should be receiving a bill every other week. Please make every effort to pay your balances in a timely manner. As stated in the Aftercare handbook (which can be accessed through the Millbury Public Schools website or on this site) if two weekly payments are missed, your child can be suspended from the program until your balance is up to date.
Again, I welcome you to our program.  Should you have any problems or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me at school (508 – 865 – 5241) or send me an email (
