Updated information about the school district's lunch service: Children 18 years of age and younger can still pick up a free breakfast and lunch. We have added two new locations. The district food service will be set up at Highland Park Elementary parking lot from 9:30 am to 10:45 am and Custer County District High School student parking lot from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. We will continue with our previous locations of Washington Middle School gym entrance at 7:30 am to 8:30 am and noon to 1:00 pm. The white Ford lunch delivery truck will be parked in front of the Custer Villa Apartments on Arrowhead Lane in South Gate from 9:00 am to 9:45 am, then it will be at Jefferson Elementary from 10:00 am to 10:45 am, then it will be at Garfield Elementary from 11:00 am to noon. Please contact your child's school if you have any questions.

On March 24, the Governor issued orders extending school closures until April 10th.  While all of Miles City Public School buildings will remain closed to students, the district and it’s teachers have submitted a plan to the Governor recommending that learning continue for our students.Teachers, Para-professionals and Support staff will be available on-site or off-site.

This plan will ensure that your student will continue to have opportunities to learn and grow academically. Our ideal goal is to keep students engaged in learning in a variety of ways (from home). Hopefully, we can avoid as much learning loss as possible during this time. Each classroom and building will look a little different in the way that they deliver lessons, receive lessons and assess lessons.  Many students have varying levels of technology and educational lessons will be differentiated accordingly. Our teachers are transitioning to remote delivery as are our students. I ask that you have patience and contact individual teachers and para professionals with any questions or issues. One of our goals is to have regular contact between the student and the school to make sure that students and families have what they need (in the form of support) during this time. Strategies will be utilized to hopefully eliminate as many obstacles as possible thus ensuring that educational services can be accessed by all students. The District has also implemented a specific plan and strategies to ensure that each students who is on an IEP or 504 plan continues to receive the educational and related services to make progress towards their individual goals.

The state will not require students make up time missed due to the Coronavirus episode. Federal testing requirements have been waived for this year and juniors will take the ACT tests in the fall of 2020. At this time all activities have also been postponed until MHSA determines otherwise. Prom has also been postponed. Graduation is pending. Our hope is that we are able to hold commencement exercises in some format. Ensuring that all eligible seniors graduate is one of our top priorities. I know that for our seniors this seems to be an extremely unfair turn of events, but it in no way diminishes their achievement. We will do our best to celebrate and congratulate them.

The Miles City School district will be providing free breakfast and lunches to any student in the district at six locations (Southgate, Jefferson, Garfield, Highland Park, CCDHS and Holy Rosary Hospital). Schedules will be posted on our web site. Backpack meals (food over the weekend) are also available in each building (contact building principal) and our high school meal pantry is open five days a week (contact CCDHS office for hours).

Thank you for your patience, understanding and support during this time. Miles City truly is a wonderful community!
