Possible playing cards have three degrees of difficulty identified with one to three dots, and both the single digit and double digit decks will be used for the competition. This game is a fun way to get individual students and groups of students quickly using their mental math expertise, with the added benefit of several possible ways of achieving the goal of a result of 24 with each card. A single digit playing card may have the numbers 8,6,4,2. A play could say the following number sentence to gain 24: 6x2=12, 8+4=12, 12+12=24 or 6x8=48, 48 divided by 4=12, 12x2=24. The free internet site "sumdog" and the 24 Game are just a few ways we are supporting our students in thinking faster, longer, and with more complexity.
