Welcome back and Happy New Year!

I hope you all had nice holidays and got some good rest, because I'm sure you all know that the flu (influenza) is widespread in California right now.  This year, the main flu strain is particularly nasty, and flu shots aren't much protection against it, though you might not get as sick if you have had one.

The flu is primarily a serious respiratory infection.  It comes on rapidly and comes with fever, coughing, congestion, and other symptoms. People are typically pretty sick for a number of days.

I am writing to ask that if you do catch the flu, please do not come back to work too soon.  You are still contagious for 5-7 days afterward (children can be contagious longer), and can infect those around you. This is a serious illness, and we want to do our best to limit the spread.

Please also share this information with students and parents, encouraging everyone to stay home as long as necessary to get healthy. ...and remember!  WASH YOUR HANDS a lot and cover all coughs and sneezes!

Please remember to call our attendance line in case your child has an absence.  987-1450 ext 5100
I hope everyone stays healthy!

Accelerated Reader Problems

posted Jan 9, 2018, 8:00 AM by David Leonard

Dear Families
Just prior to our Winter Break, Accelerated Reader pushed out a new interface and updates to their system.  The product modifications and some of the computer code they rolled out were full of bugs, and have caused students to get pushed out of quizzes, and not allowed them to finish.  They have also removed our ability to delete quizzes for the time being.  We have communicated our frustration with the company, and are awaiting fixes and updates to their system.  We appreciate your patience with this process, and understand how you might be equally frustrated. As soon as we're able to get AR back up and running successfully, we'll let you know.

Winter Performances changed to two nights...12/18 & 12/19

posted Dec 4, 2017, 4:46 PM by David Leonard   [ updated Dec 6, 2017, 2:05 PM ]

Our Winter Performance for Mr. Weiss, Mrs. Rodgers and Mr. Morita's classes will be on Dec. 18th from 6 - 7:15 pm.
Winter Performances for Ms. Millar, Ms. Beck, and Mrs. Lutes' classes will be on Dec. 19th from 6 - 7:15.

December 5th, 2017

Dear Families,

We have had to alter our Winter Performance Schedule yet again.  Our sincere apologies for any confusion.

Mr. Weiss, Mrs. Rodgers and Mr. Morita's performances will be at 6 pm on Monday, December 18th.

Ms. Millar, Ms. Beck, and Mrs. Lutes' performances will be at 6 pm on Tuesday, December 19th as scheduled.

The performances are likely to take about 1 hour each. It's a good idea to get to school at least fifteen minutes prior to the performance.  We will begin at 6:05 at the latest  Students are to report to their classrooms at that time.  Out of respect to all of the performers, please wait to pick up your children until the end of the show. Your children will be overseen by their teachers in their classrooms during the performance.

The reason we are doing two nights is because of limited seating for families.  We've had to change from Wednesday to Monday due to the fact that there was a conflict with the Middle School Band Performance. Our sincere apologies for any scheduling difficulties this has caused you.

posted Nov 3, 2017, 7:16 AM by David Leonard   [ updated Nov 3, 2017, 7:16 AM ]

Dear Families,
Our 2nd Annual Turkey Trot Fundraiser happens in two weeks.  Pledge forms are going home today, so keep a lookout for them in backpacks. The form is also digitally attached to this webpage.

Online pledges can also be done via the 99 pledges website.  Our specific web address is:

Thank you for helping to support our PTO.  The funds raised go to paying for assemblies, our Fall Carnival, the teacher classroom funds, art supplies, and other PTO sponsored activities.

Please come and join the fun on November 17th. Last year we were able to raise $4000.
This year we were able to raise enough funds through business and family donations to provide spirit wear t-shirts for all students. The design is a combination of artwork by Brooke Keith and lettering by Zion Lentz.  Our sponsors names are on the back of the shirt.  Please have your child wear their new shirt on the day of the Turkey Trot.

As always, thank you for your tremendous support of our school. Our school is amazing because of the dedication and passion our parents have for our school. You make the difference in your children's lives.
Thank you,

Fall Carnival

Fall Carnival

Tuesday, October 31st

Costume Parade starts at 9:00AM

How can I help?

Please stop by after school on Monday, October 30th to help decorate, or on October 31st to help clean up after the event is over. Also, we need peanut free snacks to give out to our students during the day. Donations of small bottled waters, apple juice, paper cups, and napkins are always appreciated. If you could please wait to drop off your donations until the morning of the Fall Carnival in the Multi-Use room that would be the most helpful.

There will be school the next day, and please no weapons with your child’s costume.
