Marshall Peters serves as the Executive Minister of the Mid-American Baptist Churches (Iowa and Minnesota), a position he has held since 2002.  He is originally from Wheaton, Maryland, a suburb of Washington D.C. and has served churches in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. He was an ABC missionary to Thailand from 1983-1997. During his time as a missionary, he served as the General Secretary of the Thailand Baptist Missionary Fellowship, a group representing Baptist mission boards from five different countries.  He also has served as the Associate Executive Minister of the American Baptist Churches of the Central Region. He is a graduate of Alderson Broaddus College (B.A.), Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary (D.Min.). Marshall lives in Clive, IA with his wife, June. In his spare time he enjoys playing with computers and other electronic gadgets, watching football or reading a good mystery. 


Gary Martin began his new role as an Associate Region Minister on January 1, 2016. He serves as Region staff on the Dayton Oaks Camp ministry team and the Mission & Stewardship team, in addition to other areas of ministry . Gary was a bi-vocational pastor in Kansas before moving to Des Moines, IA, and is continuing his work restoring interiors and tops on antique and custom vehicles as owner/operator of Goldfield Trim & Upholstery. He is married to the Rev. Brenda Stalbaum Martin.



Carol Teare is another Mid-ABC Associate Region Minister who began work on January 1, 2016. She serves as staff liaison to Mid-American Baptist Women's Ministries and Women in Ministry. Carol is one of the pastors at First Baptist Church of Waterloo, IA, where she was raised and ordained. She and her husband Toby have been married 40 years, and have a son, daughter, and six grandchildren.
