Audition Requirements
            Vocal (for all students)
      • Each student must prepare a vocal piece and perform it form memory.
      • The piece must be performed with accompaniment only.  There should be no vocals on the accompaniment track.
      • Accompaniment tracks can be brought to the audition on cassette, CD, MP3 player, or IPod.
      • K-5 Students: Any selection will be sufficient.
      • 6-12 Students: Please limit your selection to musical theatre.  It is suggested that you look for a piece that is from a "pop" music show that is stylistically similar to Footloose.  Examples include, but are not limited to:
          • Grease
          • Billy Elliot
          • Aida
          • Harispray
          • Jersey Boys
          • Little Shop of Horrors
          • Rock of Ages

            Monologue (for speaking roles)
      • Monologues should be at least 1 minute in length.
      • Selections must be delivered from memory.

            Dance (for all students)
      • Students do not need to come to auditions with a dance prepared.
      • We will take the students in small groups, teach them a short routine and then have them perform it for this portion of the audition.

A Few Important Pieces of Information About This Production.
    • This is a PG show.  While that does not mean that it contains vulgarity and suggestive material, it does mean that the subject matter is more mature.   There have been some concerns addressed about the content of this show, specifically language.  Please know, and share with other parents and community members that have similar concerns, that Mrs. Holtzclaw and Mr. Franklin are committed to continuing our history of tasteful and appropriate theatre for our students to participate in and our community to enjoy.
    • With a more mature subject matter comes fewer roles for our younger actors.  We will still use about 10-15 K-5 students, but the majority of the roles will be primarily for 6-12 grade students.
If you have questions about the audition process, please contact Mr. Franklin or Mrs. Holtzclaw using the information below.
