#1 KEY CLUB IN THE WORLD!! AGENDA/NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 7, 2016 CALL TO ORDER THIS IS POSSIBLY THE BUSIEST 2 WEEKS OF THE KEY CLUB PLEDGE YEAR. PLEASE DO ALL YOU CAN TO HELP!!!! INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS TREASURER’S REPORT: Dues are $20.00. (International-$7.00; District-$5.00 and Local-$8.00. Please get these to Mr. Hall ASAP. Deadline is September 25th. REPORTS OF RECENT AND ONGOING ACTIVITIES: Canned Food: Don’t forget cans for the food bank and our Food Drive. 4 cans/hour, 3 hour max/month; also pet food Candy Bars: Get 2 hours per bag of 25 candy bars. Key Club Office: Mr. Hall will be in the temporary Key Club Office, A67, across from the math wing, each morning. Committees: Be thinking about your special interests. Committees will be organized later this month. MHS Activity Calendar: Still waiting on a couple of the ads. This should have been out already! UPCOMING PROJECTS AND SIGN-UPS: Concessions: Thurs (8th), Mon (12th) 5:30-close. MHS Soccer Concessions: We have been asked to help with concessions at the fields behind the General; Thurs (8th) & Wed (13th), 4:15. Cliff Stein Scholarship Fundraiser: Jack’s Meat Market; Fri (9th), 3:30, put together basketball game (mechanically inclined); Sat (10th), 3:45-8,working games, silent auction, concessions and parking. Blues Fest Parking: Sat (10th), 10:30-2; Riverside Park. Adopt-a-Highway: Sat (10th), 10 AM at Medical Center in front of the General. Bring gloves.
Vogler Test Drive: Sat(10TH) @MHS; HELP REGISTRATION WITH IPADS 9-NOON AND NOON TO 3PM St. Andrews After School Program: 3:30-5:00 PM; Thurs (10th), Fri (11th), Mon (14th), Tues (15th), Wed (16th), Thurs (17th), Mon (21st), Tues (22nd), Wed (23rd). APPLE FESTIVAL: This is one of the busiest weeks of the year for the club, and we need everyone to participate. It is a great time to pick up a lot of hours and help the community at the same time. Please do all you can. *To sign up for any shift out of school, you MUST be signed up for at least 2 NON-school day projects. Appletime Clean-up Day: Sun (11th), 1 PM, 110 S. 14th, bring gloves, maybe rakes, etc. Kiwanis General Store: straight across from main stage. Wed (14th), 4-6:30; Thurs (15th), 4-6:30, 6:30-9:00; Fri (16th), 4-6:30, 6:30-9:00; Sat (17th), noon-3, 3-6, 6-9; Sun (18th), 10:30 AM-take down. Wear Key Club shirts when working at the stand if you have them. *Special Friends Day: Thurs (15th), 9:30 AM-2:30 PM, Meet at the Appletime Stage in the main carnival area. Be sure of 2 other shifts and make sure you stay active with the special populations while there. Must be approved by teachers. *AF Golf Tournament: Thurs (15th), Jackson Co. Country Club. Wear polo shirt & shorts (must be collared). Help with raffle, registration, carrying golf bags to carts, etc. 10:30 AM-5 PM. Same rules as Special Friends Day-must be signed up for at least 2 other non-school day events. Apple Pie Eating Contest: Thurs (15th), 5:00-end of event (about 7:30); Appletime Stage: dress neatly. Kiwanis Kiddie Parade Banners (club shirts) and Line-Up: Fri (16th), 3:00 PM, open lot by 17th Street. Appletime Walk/Run-Spotters: Sat (17th), 7:45-9:30 AM, 13th and Walnut. Will need drivers, including one truck for water stop. Wear red if possible. Grand Parade Line-Up: Sat (17th), 9:15 AM-12:00 PM; meet at Logan Statue, MMS. 4 will also carry Sponsor’s Banner…those 4 need red shirts & jean shorts. Others will be lining up the parade. Taste of Murphysboro: Thurs Sept (15th) 4:30pm on Chestnut behind the Jackson Co. Court House. Festival Pageant Ushers/ticket sellers: Sat (17th), 7-9 PM; MMS Aud.; dress up; 2 males to escort candidates need long sleeve shirt/tie or coat/tie; also need a couple to run spotlight that night plus be at practice Thurs. night at 7 and stay until the end Sat. night.. Others will be ticket sellers & ushers. Report to Gaye Youngman. Drums at Appletime, Sat (17th), Concessions: 1:00-4:00, 4:00-7;00, 7:00-10:00 (probably earlier). Drums at Appletime, Sat (17th), Band Guides and judge runners: 3:30-9:00 PM; MHS or Key Club shirt if possible. Report to Mr. Caskey.
