About TEAM Bobcat
Ms. Hayley Johnson
My name is Hayley Johnson and I am thrilled to be your reading specialist. I was born and raised right here in Mooresville, and graduated from Mooresville High School in 2003. I attended UNCC for my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, then later attended Wingate University for my masters degree in Educational Leadership. I have been teaching with the Mooresville Graded School District since 2008. I completed my National Board Certification in Early/Middle Childhood Literacy in 2019. In my free time I enjoy working out at Burn Bootcamp, reading as many books as I can and watching my favorite TV shows on Netflix! I am looking forward to working with you this year as we grow life-long readers through the Title 1 program!
Mrs. Rosemary Ballard
Hello, my name is Rosemary Ballard. I have lived in Minnesota and Ohio, but North Carolina has been my home since 1981. My husband and I have three lovely daughters that attended MGSD from K-12! I earned my BS in Education from Bowling Green State University (Ohio). I taught in Mooresville from 1984 to my retirement in 2014. For the last two years I have been tutoring reading part time at MIS and have thoroughly enjoyed working with the great students, teachers, parents, and staff that make up this fantastic school. I look forward to another successful year at MIS!
Mrs. Cathy Grise
Unlike most teachers, I was not a great student. I was a gifted, apathetic and sometimes a struggling student. I felt beloved by my teachers, and that has made all the difference. I graduated from Western Illinois University in 1985 with a degree in secondary education. I worked with the highest risk children in institutional settings throughout my 20’s. When I was 30, I met my husband, we married, had three kids, and moved to Mooresville in the year 2000. I started tutoring when my son was a fifth grader at MIS. He is now a freshmen at North Carolina State University.
I love my job, the colors cobalt, fuchsia, and amethyst. I love books that I can hold in my hands. I am also fond of brownies and Lindor Chocolates. I like words, colorful leggings, Corinthian Bell wind chimes, PBS, orthopedic shoes, fourth and fifth graders, and watching people I know play sports.
