Preseason Baseball Pitching Clinic

Off Season Baseball Pitching Clinic 2018

Led by Matt Smith and Loyola Academy Team


Dates:  5 Saturdays, 1/13, 1/20, 1/27, 2/3, 2/10

Time: 3-5pm

Place: Prairie View Gym (Morton Grove Park District)

Grades 1st – 8th (Rookies, Minors, Majors, Pony baseball teams)

Fee: $100 (MGBSA registered players only)


Players will be divided by age and experience and work in groups with the Coaches and players.

Pitchers will work under the supervision of the coaches who can help with all aspects of pitching, from fundamentals and mechanics to more advanced concepts. Drills and repetition will improve a pitcher’s speed and control and allow him to begin the year in mid-season form. Pitchers will also learn about arm care routines for in-season and the off-season.


Pitching Coach for Loyola Academy Coach Matt Smith, played 4 years of Division III college baseball at Concordia University Chicago. While at Concordia, Smith set an all-time school record of 76 relief appearances in four years and led the conference in saves and relief appearances for three years. Smith is ranked 21st in games pitched, 15th in relief appearances, and 22nd in saves from the NCAA Division III Baseball Records.  In 2006 Smith help lead the Cougars to a conference championship.  After the 2007 season Smith joined the Cougar coaching staff and during those three years the Cougars won a conference championship, conference tournament championship and qualified for the NCAA tournament. Smith began his coaching career in 2008 and he has coached at every level of amateur baseball including three years in the college ranks.
