Science World     FOSS

I have been a teacher at  MFL Mar Mac Middle School since 2001. I have always taught  7th grade Science and this year I also teach one class of 6th grade Science.  I also teach 7th grade Life Skills. Prior to teaching; my husband and I were dairy farmers for 25 years.  I grew up on a farm and I love gardening and cooking.  I also enjoy reading, drawing, and painting and home decorating and landscaping our lawn when I have free time.  My husband is now retired and I plan to retire in the near future.  We like to go camping and fishing and we love our 2 Boston Terrier brothers. We have three children who are  MFL Mar Mac graduates. We have five grandchildren who are our pride and joy.
I earned my B.A. degree from Upper Iowa University in 1978 but I chose to be a stay- at- home mom and farm wife until my youngest was in 6th grade.  I volunteered and was a substitute teacher for a couple of years prior to pursuing a full-time teaching position. My favorite time is spent with my family .  Having everyone home for the holidays is precious for me. We rent out our farmland now but enjoy making improvements to our home and lawn acreage.
I knew when I was 10 years old that I wanted to someday be a teacher.  My grandmother and two aunts were teachers and I am very proud of my daughter who is also a middle school teacher.   We have a great deal to be proud of in our children and their spouses accomplishments.  We have 4 UNI grads and 2 Iowa State grads in the family and they all have very successful jobs.
As a parent and teacher it has always been very important to me to impress upon young people how important it is to respect our lives and the opportunities we are offered. "Make your best effort in whatever you set out to accomplish.
A sense of self worth will be your greatest reward."
