Philosophy of Service
In the Mesquite Independent School District, information services are provided for students, staff and parents through the library and certified librarian on each campus. As an instructional partner with the classroom teacher, the librarian teaches students to be "critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers and ethical users of information." (AASL, 2009) The librarian also serves as campus information specialist, library program administrator, and leader in the integration of 21st century skills into the learning environment. The efforts of the librarian in building a quality library program are made to increase student learning and achievement.
