    October 1, 2017
    Dear MMS Families:
October is a busy and exciting month at Moriarty Middle School.
MMS will celebrate Anti-bullying awareness month beginning October 2. On October 2, we will
have three grade-level assemblies in which a guest speaker, Tim Means, will motivate our
learners to stand up against bullying in our school. Throughout the month of October, our
learners will have multiple activities to reinforce the message that we will not tolerate bullying at
our school such as a poster contest and some other activities through advisory class.
We ask that all staff and learners wear blue on Mondays in October to help us to remember to
    “stomp out bullying.”
October is also the time when our volleyball girls participate in the Dig Pink game to raise
money for breast cancer research. The Dig Pink game is October 4 at MHS gym beginning at 4
    pm.
October 19 is parent teacher conferences 8-3:15. We will be calling to schedule meetings with
some students. If you are interested in a conference for your learner, please contact the office
so we can ensure you get a time to meet with your learner’s teachers.
Report cards will be distributed and mailed home October 19.
October is also the time of year for Red Ribbon Week to remind learners to stay clear of drug
abuse. We will celebrate this through some leadership with our Student Leadership Team and
participate in activities the last full week of October (October 23-27).
October 27 will be a school dance sponsored by Student Leadership Team. Learners will need
to submit a permission slip in order to attend the after school dance which will outline end time
for dance and other dance expectations.
October 31 is Halloween. Students may wear costumes when following these guidelines: Must
be school dress code, no weapons or fake weapons, no masks.
Save the date: November 7 will be our Family Fun Night which will include our book fair and
other engaging family activities. More information to come soon.
Please let us know if you have any questions: 505-832-5900.
    Sincerely,

            Amanda Wilson, Principal

    Estimados MMS Familias:
