SUnMaRC 2014 at Mesa Community College

The MCC Mathematics Department and MCC Mathematics Club, are hosting the annual Southwestern Undergraduate Mathematics Research Conference (SUnMaRC) from Feb. 28 to Mar 2, 2014.  SUnMaRC brings together students and faculty from throughout the southwest for a fun weekend of mathematics.

SUnMaRC is designed to provide opportunities for students to attend and/or present mathematics research in a supportive and fun atmosphere of creativity.  Students will participate in mathematical puzzles/games, attend research presentations and interact with faculty, students, and business leaders from throughout the Southwest.  Students who do not present will return to their schools excited to begin their own research projects.
  • Students can present on mathematics education research, original research in pure or applied mathematics, or even interesting problems from class, independent study or a textbook. We are very flexible on the type of presentations that can be made including research that is ‘new’ to the student.
  • Participants will also attend excellent presentations given by our invited speakers. We have invited respected speakers from both academia and industry.  Please see the link to the left for more information.

More details will be posted in the future.  If you have any questions then please contact Adam Avilez at adam.avilez@mesacc.edu.

Partial funding for SUnMaRC is provided by NSF grant DMS-0846477 through the MAA Regional Undergraduate Mathematics Conferences program, www.maa.org/RUMC.
