            Ms. Schmidt 5th Grade

I am excited to start my twelfth year at Merton School teaching both Language Arts and Social Studies. This is the first year I will be focusing on just two subjects and I look forward to the challenge. I have my Masters Degree in Education and have attended Readers Workshop training at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City.

Here at Merton, I am an active staff member involved in many committees. They include Reading Curriculum, RTI, and PBIS. I strive to help create an environment where all students have a safe and equal opportunity to grow and learn.

My personal goal for my classroom is to challenge students and watch them grow to their personal best. I also want to create a classroom that is a safe learning environment for all. If students do not feel safe in my classroom, whether it is emotionally, physically, or socially, I do not believe they can learn to their full potential.
